Library and collections

On this page

The left sidebar filters what the matrix shows and groups clips into your own collections.

Filter rows

Seven rows always appear, each with a live count:

Row Counts
All clips Every non-empty cell
Favorites Clips you flagged with Toggle favorite
Recent Clips with a non-nil trigger stamp
Video Clips whose source is a movie
Images Clips whose source is an image
Audio Audio-only clips
Shaders Generator / shader-backed clips

The Shaders row's underlying filter key is Generators - the label is simply friendlier.

Selecting a filter does not change which clips are triggered by keyboards, MIDI or the control API. It changes what is displayed, and - importantly - it clears the current multi-selection.

Below the rows sit Import media and Shader browser.

Recent vs Favorites

These are the two most-used filters and they mean different things:

  • Recent is stamped automatically every time a clip is triggered. There is no expiry and no cap on how many clips carry a stamp, so over a long session nearly everything you touched becomes "Recent". Copied, pasted or imported clips have their stamps cleared.
  • Favorites is manual only, from a clip's context menu → Toggle favorite.

The Search clips field matches clip names case- and diacritic-insensitively. It composes with the active filter.

Selecting a clip through a search result does not clear the filter.

Collections

Collections are your own named groups of clips, stored with the set.

  • Each row lists a name and member count, sorted by name.
  • A row's context menu offers Add selected clip and Delete collection.
  • New collection prompts for a name. Reserved names cannot be used: All clips, Favorites, Recent, Video, Images, Audio, Generators, Shaders, Effects.

Membership travels with a clip when it is copied or pasted, and is preserved through bank duplicate, bank export and undo/redo. Removing a layer strips that layer's clips from collections.

Source Browser

Beyond Import media there is a second way to fill a slot, reached by clicking an empty tile, from a clip's Shader Browser… context action, or the Shader browser sidebar button. Import / replace media… opens the file picker directly instead of this browser.

It captures one specific slot. If that destination changes, it shows a warning and disables insertion; use Cancel, then reopen it for the intended slot.

  • Page one is titled Add a source with four cards: Shader Browser, Import Video or Photo, Text, Blank Clip.
  • Page two is titled Shader Browser, with a Search shaders field matching display name, category or summary, a <n> shaders count, a three-column card grid of name plus category, and Cancel / Apply. Double-clicking a card applies it.

Applying a shader switches the Inspector to the Source tab and clears the library filter.

See Text clips for editable text, or RenderWave shaders for shader behavior and limits.
