Use Layout → Customize and save layouts… to rearrange the console and save named layouts on this Mac. Changing a layout keeps the set and playback running.
Customize
- Show Library shows or hides the sidebar.
- Inspector position offers Left, Center or Right.
- Inspector width accepts 25…55%. Preview and Output split the remaining width equally and keep 16:9 video canvases. The standard Inspector width is 39%.
- Layer height is 0 for automatic sizing, or 92…2000 points. Available console space can constrain the displayed layer area.
- Window width accepts 1180…4096 points, and Height accepts 760…2160. Choose Apply window size; the result adapts to the current screen.
Drag the vertical dividers to resize the Inspector; double-click resets its width. Drag the horizontal divider to resize the layer area; double-click restores automatic height.
Save and recall
Enter New layout name, then choose Save as new. Up to 32 named layouts are stored, with unique names of 1…80 characters. Names are trimmed, case-insensitive for uniqueness, and may not contain control characters.
Saved layout recalls a preset. Update selected replaces the selected preset with the current layout; Delete selected removes that preset. Modified presets are identified in the selection label. Saved layouts are also listed in the Layout menu.
Reset standard layout restores the standard layout without deleting named presets. The standard window is 1600 × 980 points, with the Library visible and Inspector in the centre. Compact window (⌥⌘1) and Reference window (⌥⌘2) set window size.
Slider zero and reset
Supported sliders offer a named right-click action. If zero lies in the valid range, the action sets zero. If zero is forbidden, the action uses that control's declared valid default, such as 39% Inspector width. Read the menu label; this is not a promise that every slider in the app has a reset action.
Effect sliders use zero when permitted and their factory parameter default otherwise. Clip and independent Preview playhead resets respect the trimmed in-point. A speed reset to zero pauses without discarding the remembered nonzero speed. The layer Inspector also has a Zero opacity button; matrix opacity offers the right-click action. Surface-opacity reset changes its draft and still requires Apply surface.
Storage
Layouts are app-local UserDefaults data under UVJNamedInterfaceLayoutsV1, separate
from .uvj sets and Preferences.json. Invalid saved data is preserved under a recovery
key when possible. If that preservation fails, layout saving is disabled so the original
is retained.
These are source-inspected controls. Layout usability on every screen configuration and public-preview availability were not verified for this documentation update.
